Antto Melasniemi is the Concept Director and Executive Chef of HEL YES! Born in 1975, Antto Melasniemi is a hospitality and culinary expert, facilitator and concept director renowned for his highly praised projects like LAPIN KULTA SOLAR KITCHEN RESTAURANT, with Marti Guixé and HEL YES! He also runs the restaurants Ateljé Finne, Kuurna and Putte’s Bar and Pizza in Helsinki and has recently worked for clients such as Iittala and Nokia. Having also worked as a chef in restaurants in London and Paris Melasniemi is a recognised name across Europe. Klaus Haapaniemi is the Creative Director of HEL YES! Haapaniemi (b. 1970) is an artist who has created vivid universes for various international clients since 1994. His rich illustrations with dreamlike storytelling evolve into design, decorative objects, animations and structural spaces, solo exhibitions, window displays and set design. He has published three illustrated books and his work has been featured in various compilations. Mia Wallenius is the Art Director of HEL YES! Wallenius (b. 1970) has worked in art and cultural projects since 1989, for past 12 years she has been working in fashion as an art director. She set up her own design studio together with Klaus Haapaniemi in January 2010. Their design approach is influenced by nature, Finnish folklore, fantasy and traditional decorative arts. Focusing in Klaus Haapaniemi textiles they also work in furniture, fashion, books, events and exhibitions. Kenneth Kvarnström, Choreographer Kvarnström (b. 1963) has been working in the field of dance since 1990, mainly with his own company K. Kvarnström & Co. His works have toured in most European countries and also in Africa, Israel, Japan, Latin America and the US. In 2003 Kvarnström decided to stop choreographing for 6 years and became the director of the House of Dance in Stockholm, a guest performance venue. In 2008 he started his five-year plan, working again as a choreographer with his own company and doing comission works for others. The same year he was appointed Professor of the Arts by the Finnish government. From 2010 he will work as a house choreographer with Helsinki Dance Company creating new danceworks in co-production with K. Kvarnström & Co. Maria Duncker (b. 1963), Artist The Bone Orchestra was created by Maria Duncker who built the instruments with designer Mikko Paakkanen. Video works by Duncker for the HEL YES! can now be found in www.helyes.fi. Originally a sculptor, Dunckers (b. 1963) production has recently focused on media arts; video works and slide shows. She works with anything from erotic art to woodsmanship with a freshly naïvistic touch.She is also known for her fluxus-spirited activities whith dancers Anne Hiekkaranta and Vera Nevanlinna. Duncker was nominated for the Ars Fennica prize in 2008. Kaisa Inari Kinnunen (b. 1984), Fashion Designer MA in fashion design, graduated from the Aalto University, Helsinki, 2010. Lives and works in Paris. Inspired by grand movements, with an idea to explore the space within and beyond clothing, Kinnunen created and gathered the garments for HEL YES! Matti Jykylä (b. 1977), Lighting Designer Matti Jykylä has a master’s degree in lighting designing from the Theatre Academy of Finland.. His work is ranging from art installations to large scale festival productions. |
